Most of the world’s population lives in circumstances that make the purchase of mosquito nets and medication either difficult or impossible. At the same time, knowledge of traditional medicine is fast disappearing. However, efforts are being made to preserve knowledge of medicinal plants to the benefit of the indigenous peoples – a task that the Action for Natural Medicine in the Tropics (ANAMED) has taken on. The association organises seminars in the poorest areas of the earth and publishes and distributes information on how to make medicinal products in many national and regional languages.

BRETTSCHNEIDER FERNREISEBEDARF wholeheartedly supports ANAMED’s research into Artemisia annua anamed, a tail and leafy medicinal plant with a high content of active ingredients that prevent malaria in semi-resistant people.

Water is essential for living. Thanks to your donations, anamed constructs wells in which the fast-growing Artemisia plants, specialy develops and evolved by anamed, become harvest-ready within 6 month. From this harvest anti-malaria medicine is provided. The harvested plants are than placed on the ground for the sun and wind to dry them, thus, conserving them for future processing. Wind scatters the leaves, goats and insects come and spoil them, if not anamed places them into a Brettschneider mosquito tent to protect the harvest.
